IT’S MY TURN
Julija and Eliza are two sisters growing up in a high-risk household marked by instability, neglect, and a lack of safety. Their mother is emotionally fragile and incapable of providing proper care or a secure home. Their beloved father is in prison. In this environment of poverty, indifferent adults, and constant bullying, the girls learn that relying on each other is their only path to survival.
One day, after receiving money from a stranger leaving their mother’s room, the sisters set off on a short trip to the store — a seemingly simple errand that quickly turns into a tense encounter with local bullies. Still, they have a secret refuge: a lake where, for a moment, they can escape the harshness of their everyday lives.
Julija becomes increasingly curious about their family’s past, eventually daring to enter a forbidden place — the abandoned attic of their home. There, she discovers old photographs, forgotten belongings, and, in a box, a hidden gun. This discovery shakes their already fragile world. Eliza wants to leave it all alone, but Julija, driven by anger and a desire to control something in her life, refuses to back down.
The tension between the sisters escalates into a dangerous confrontation, mirroring the violence they've witnessed growing up. A gunshot rings out. Birds take flight. Another shot. Silence.
