Laila is a Rotterdam based film maker and creative. She graduated Willem the Kooning Academy in 2021as an audiovisual designer. With a strong passion for stories and especially the horror genre she graduated with “Liquid Hope” as her first short psychological horror. It has been shown at the Imagine fantastic film festival in amsterdam and in various other countries.

Besides she has taken part is various 48h film projects over the years as a director with “Vierkante Ogen” (winner of filmapalooza and nominated for a Meliès d’argent) and “Beet”. She has also taken part as a 1st AD with “Een Golf” and “the Tweak” (produced by So-we). 

Working as a director and a 1st AD helps her understand the true meaning of story telling and what is important to tell when, how and why.
